Virtual Conversation Hours are hour-long discussions for writing center tutors, administrators, faculty, and staff to discuss online writing center (OWC) work. Our goal is to provide a space for us to share experiences, ideas, strategies, and questions about OWCs. We welcome all participants, whether you’re just beginning to think about OWC work or whether you’re an experienced OWC administrator. Each Virtual Conversation Hour will focus on a theme, although we welcome participants to bring all questions, ideas, and comments to the discussion.
Virtual Conversation Hours are held in Zoom, and participants can contribute through both audio and chat (sharing your video is not expected). We will post summary notes after each discussion to share ideas, strategies, and perspectives to anyone who can’t attend live. Subscribe to the OWC Community to be notified when we post our summary notes.
Asynchronous Tutoring Strategies
Register to join us on March 26, 2019, from 1-2pm EST. During this session, we’ll discuss asynchronous tutoring strategies, considering the following questions (or any other questions and ideas attendees bring!):
- What strategies do you use for providing students feedback asynchronously?
- What technologies or tools do you find helpful or effective?
- What kind of training have you done? What kind of training do you need to do?
