The Assistant Treasurer is a volunteer Officer position on the OWCA Executive Board.
Position Details
- Length of term: 2 years (January 2024 to December 2025)
- Time commitment: 5-10 hours per month (includes synchronous and asynchronous work)

- Elected by: OWCA membership
Qualifications
We welcome your application regardless of your prior experience with finances and budgets. The Executive Board will support you as a new Board member and help you to implement your ideas.
You should apply for this position if you:
- Would like to develop/hone skills in finance, budgeting, virtual event planning and coordinating, and/or federal and state procedures for nonprofits
- Would enjoy keeping track of finances, budgeting, and federal and state filings
- Have ideas for increasing revenue, ways of organizing financial data, or incorporating sponsors/exhibitors into events
Responsibilities
If elected, you would serve 1 year as Assistant Treasurer, followed by 1 year as Treasurer.
Year 1: Assistant Treasurer
As Assistant Treasurer, you would do the following within your monthly time commitment:
- Work closely with the Treasurer and receive mentoring as needed
- Help manage monthly state tax filings and annual federal tax returns
- Help manage PayPal, CashApp, and Novo bank accounts
- Help manage payments to services (ASL Interpreting, Acuity Scheduling, Zoom, Web Hosting, etc.)
- Help monitor emails from OWCA members
- Help work with the Virtual Events Committee, Conference Committee, and Grant Coordinator throughout the year
- Attend monthly Executive Board meetings to help report on the association’s finances, review items that need Board feedback/approval, and vote on Board and committee projects
Year 2: Treasurer
As Treasurer, you would do the following within your monthly time commitment:
- Work closely with the incoming Assistant Treasurer and mentor them as needed
- Manage monthly state tax filings and annual federal tax returns
- Manage PayPal, CashApp, and Novo bank accounts
- Manage payments to services (ASL Interpreting, Acuity Scheduling, Zoom, Web Hosting, etc.)
- Monitor emails from OWCA members and investigate membership payment issues
- Assist other Executive Board members as needed
- Work with the Virtual Events Committee, Conference Committee, and Grant Coordinator throughout the year
- Attend monthly Executive Board meetings to report on the association’s finances, review items that need Board feedback/approval, and vote on Board and committee projects
The Association
The OWCA has federal 501(c)(3) status and is incorporated in the State of Ohio. Our projected yearly revenue is $3,000-4,000, and our yearly expenditures are usually $2,000-3,500.
