July 19th, 2023 @ 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm EDT
Readingclubprovides a space to discuss writing center scholarship. Based on the article or chapter chosen, participants will share experiences, ideas, strategies, and questions about online writing centers (OWCs). July’s reading club discussion will focus on “Dismantling Neutrality: Cultivating Antiracist Writing Center Ecologies” by Eric C. Camarillo published in Praxis: A Writing Center Journal. A copy of the article will be available for registered participants.
Reading Abstract
“In this article, I explore the potential complications of running writing centers at minority serving institutions (MSI), with special attention to Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI) and how thinking of writing centers as ecologies can provide keener insight into the real work of writing centers.”
Guidelines for Participating
Reading Club is currently held in a Zoom Pro room. Participation is open to everyone, including not-yet OWCA members. To ensure a safe space for open communication and interaction, these sessions will not be recorded.
