The Website Coordinator is a volunteer Officer position on the OWCA Executive Board.


Position Details

  • Length of term: 2 years (March 2025 to December 2026)
  • Time commitment: 5-15 hours per month (includes synchronous and asynchronous work)
  • Number of openings: 1
  • Renewable?: Yes, up to 2 times
  • Elected by: OWCA Executive Board

Qualifications

We welcome your application regardless of your prior experience with professional associations. The Executive Board will support you as a new Board member and help you to implement your ideas. 

You should apply for this position if you:

  1. Have edited a website before, in any context
  2. Would like to develop skills with WordPress, basic HTML, and digital accessibility
  3. Would enjoy learning the backend of our website and researching answers to website problems

If elected, you would receive extensive training on our website, within your monthly time commitment. You will also work alongside the other Website Coordinator.


Responsibilities

As Website Coordinator, you would do the following within your monthly time commitment:

  1. Learn to manage the OWCA website and the OWCA membership software
  2. Collaborate and meet with the other Website Coordinator regularly
  3. Make timely updates to website content and navigation, as requested by the Board and committees
  4. Edit website content for readability and accessibility before it is published
  5. Assist the Conference Committee with creating and updating the conference website
  6. Attend committee meetings, when invited, to discuss/plan website projects
  7. Assist OWCA members with technical issues in their accounts
  8. Help develop detailed documentation for the website
  9. Research website plugins (or apps) that add additional features for the Board and committees
  10. Attend monthly Executive Board meetings to report on changes to the website, review items that need Board feedback/approval, and vote on Board and committee projects
