Abstract:
This roundtable will engage in discourse that furthers our understanding of what challenges tutors face in providing multimodal feedback and how we can work to minimize those challenges. By reducing these barriers, we commit to the idea of “Writing Centers as Iconoclastic sites for learning” (McKinney). To make tutoring services accessible to students, tutors must be well-prepared and confident in their ability to adapt among a wide range of modalities. During our presentation, we will facilitate a brief conversation linking existing scholarships (ex. Greenfield, Olsen, and Hewett) to multimodal feedback. We will then present what we have been doing at our 2-year institution to prepare tutors and engage in dialogue with attendees.
